Solid Abdominal Workout with Gerard
This class was a half hour abs class during lunch, the perfect midday workout for those of you (like me) who can skip out of the office for a quick strength train but don’t want to get caught up for nearly two hours between class, shower, etc. It’s a perfectly solid ab workout, quick and dirty.
On the Class:
- Made use of various equipment throughout- medicine balls and exercise balls (at Equinox these are ballast balls and have sand inside).
- More cardio than I expected in an abs class, with some warm-up ballast ball swinging (my mouth got a little dry!)
- Nicely broken up into sections: upper abs, lower abs, and obliques, using the exercise balls for the former, and side planks incorporating the medicine ball for the latter.
- Gerard took care to comment on proper form when using the ballast balls (“keep your whole lower back on the ball to avoid strain”).
Nothing super shocking or amazing went on here, but there was nothing I objected to either. Was a standard mid-day ab workout, moderately challenging.
